The following provides an understanding of the collection of task and responsibilities assigned to specific positions within the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards organizational structure. The requirement of the positions offers career guidance to individuals who are interested in an employment relationship with the Bureau.


Clerical Job Profiles

Clerk/Typist

  • Five O' levels, a secretarial college certificate in Typing
  • Experience is preferable to be able to record files, type memos and letters
  • Computer Literacy

Responsibility

  • Types memos, letters, and files and maintains records.

  • Administrative Professional Secretarial certification

Responsibilities

  • Ensures an efficient and up-to-date filing system of all Bureau’s correspondence
  • Dispatches bi-monthly newsletters
  • Classifies correspondences
  • Registers all incoming and outgoing correspondences.

Professional Job Profile

Marketing Officer

  • University degree or Professional Training in Marketing from a recognized degree.
  • Experience and training needed to function. Requires graduate work

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff in the Unit
  • Prepares reports for the Marketing strategy of the organization
  • Makes continuous public appearance for the Company

Librarian

  • University Degree or its equivalent in Library Science

Responsibilities

  • Plans and supervises the acquisition classification, cataloguing, shelving and circulation of library materials and the maintenance of records concerning its issue and return, and related matter.

  • BSc, Social Sciences/ Management
  • Five years experience

Duties

  • Organizes and ensures proper maintenance of the human resource base at the Bureau
  • Makes recommendations on the areas of manpower planning, recruitment and staff development
  • Manages the personnel functions, - salary administration, employee benefits and services including pension benefits

  • BSc Computer Science
  • 5 years experiences

Duties
Responsible for managing the organization’s information system including networks and data bases and will be expected to arrange for external communication links, advise on software and hardware acquisitions and training staff in the use of software as appropriate.

Inspector

  • University degree in Physical and Natural Sciences
  • At least two years working experience
  • Ownership of a motor vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a system for the implementation of Compulsory Standards
  • Reviews non-conformance good from point of sale
  • Liaises with Managerial personnel at Port Authority and Customs and Excise Division

Standards Officer

Certification, Standardization, Laboratory Services or Laboratory Accreditation, Metrology

  • University degree in Engineering or physical Science and training in Quality Control and Standards
  • At least two years working experience

Responsibilities

  • Research material, literature and technical data for utilization in Standards
  • Required to draft standards, sample, inspect, test and evaluate goods and services for compliance with Standards as specified by the Bureau.
  • Work requires the preparation, maintaining, editing and analyzing of Reports and records
  • Design questionnaire for surveys relating to work and reports related to Standards and Quality Assurance activities

 Nb. This position is within a block system consisting of Standards Officer I, II, and III in which specified work experience within the relevant discipline is required.

  • Performs complex Lab test and examinations
  • Assist in designing engineering, electrical and laboratory apparatus and equipment
  • Constructs equipment to meet national and international standards
