MISSION
To encourage all stakeholders to become more standards and quality conscious through public education, active promotion of the Bureau’s core services and by facilitating improvement of the corporate image, employing appropriate promotional techniques and communication media, in close collaboration with relevant Divisions/Units The role and function of the Marketing Unit is to :
- To enhance corporate image.
- To inform key stakeholders about the role and function and activities of the Bureau
- To promote core services to stimulate increase demand in target markets
- To facilitate the improvement in the quality of the Bureau’s core services
- To facilitate the delivery of quality customer service consistently

PUBLIC OUTREACH
The Marketing Unit conducts lectures and discussions at schools , community, civic, trade and professional organizations. The lectures are geared to educate the public on the role and function of the Bureau, and the many services that we offer. We also participate in Career Guidance Day Seminars, where we also educate students about the Bureau and provide information to students to assist them in securing employment in today’s competitive job market. We also host in-house tours, lectures and discussions for these groups on request as well as conduct exhibitions. Interested parties who are desirous in obtaining any of these services mentioned above are asked to submit a formal letter to the Marketing Unit outlining the following information: For In House Tours and Lectures:
- Date
- Time
- Type of group (School, Vocational Centre etc)
- Number of Persons in Tour Party
- Specific area of Interest (Garments, Textiles, Electrical etc)
For Visits to Schools/Exhibitions/Trade shows by TTBS
- Date
- Time
- Venue/Location
- Booth Space (for Trade Show /Exhibitions)
- Any Special Requirements

WORLD STANDARDS DAY
October 14 th each year, has been designated World Standards Day by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) a federation of national standards bodies world wide. The purpose of World Standards Day is to acknowledge the collaborative efforts of the thousands of experts worldwide who develop the voluntary technical agreements which are published as international standards, and in focusing world attention on the contribution that standards make towards trade, social welfare and national development. The Marketing Unit highlights World Standards Day by carrying out the following activities:
- Producing newspaper supplements
- Organizing seminars/exhibits
- Mass media advertising
- Hosting in-house lectures/tours

HANDLING CONSUMER COMPLAINTS
The Marketing Unit forwards all consumer complaints received to the Consumer Affairs Division as they are the official agency responsible for handling consumer complaints. They are located at Agostini Compound #3 Duncan Street, Port of Spain. Letters are also sent to the complainant acknowledging receipt of their complaint and they are asked to liaise with the CAD for further information, until your query is resolved.
