Marketing

MISSION

To promote the services of TTBS by formulating and executing appropriate marketing and communication strategies to assist TTBS in fulfilling its mandate.


ROLE

 

Undertakes a range of activities to help fulfill mission:

Main Activities

  • Advertising: press, radio & tv
  • Publications: newsletter, flyers, brochures, posters etc
  • Promotional events: seminars, conferences, exhibitions
  • Public Outreach Programme: schools (primary, secondary, technical, tertiary), community, civic and professional groups, public and private sector organizations
  • Media Publicity
  • Handling Customer Complaints
  • Customer Satisfaction and Awareness Surveys
  • Coordinating Personal Selling Strategies
  • Marketing Planning
  • Market Research
  • Economic Research
  • Marketing Intelligence
  • Database Marketing
  • Controlling switch board operations

Objectives

These activities are undertaken to:

  • Inform and educate stakeholders about TTBS and its work
  • Raise awareness among stakeholders about the importance of standards and quality for national development
  • Encourage greater usage of standards in private and public sectors
  • Build stakeholder relationships
  • Enhance corporate image
  • Improve quality and delivery of services

PUBLIC OUTREACH  

The Marketing Unit conducts lectures and discussions at educational institutions (primary, secondary, technical and tertiary), community, civic, trade and professional organizations. We also participate in Career Guidance Day Seminars, organized by schools to highlight careers available in the field of standards and quality at TTBS. 

Additionally, the Marketing Unit participates in exhibitions organized by other organizations and host in-house tours, lectures and discussions for groups on request. These activities are intended to educate TTBS stakeholders on the role and functions of the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards, as well as the importance of standards in improving the quality of life in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Marketing Unit also arranges stakeholders meeting with the public and private sector organizations aimed at forging closer working relationships

Interested parties who are desirous in obtaining any of these services mentioned above are asked to submit a formal letter to the Marketing Officer outlining the following information:

For In House Tours and Lectures

  • Date
  • Time
  • Type of group (School, Vocational Centre etc)
  • Number of Persons in Tour Party
  • Specific area of Interest (Garments, Textiles, Electrical etc)

For Visits to Schools/Exhibitions/Trade shows by TTBS

  • Date

  • Venue/Location
  • Booth Space (for Trade Show /Exhibitions)
  • Any Special Requirements

HANDLING CONSUMER COMPLAINTS


The Marketing Unit handles complaints:

  • From Customers who may be dissatisfied with  the services rendered to them by  the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards
  • Regarding goods/ services that do not conform to the National Compulsory Standards or that which threaten public health, safety and the environment

 Complaints can be lodged at TTBS via: - telephone, visit, letter, fax or e-mail: complaints@ttbs.org.tt.

 

The Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards does not handle complaints where the consumer is not satisfied with the performance of goods/services purchased and seeks various forms of redress such as an exchange for a similar product, a full refund of the cost of the item, repairs to the item , credit note to the value of the item,warranty.  The Consumer Affairs Division is the official agency responsible for handling such complaints.

Also the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards does not handle complaints concerning food, drugs and cosmetics. This is the responsibility of the Chemistry, Food and Drugs Division of the Ministry of Health
