Quality Management Systems
Premier Quality continues to provide training and re-training in Quality Management System implementation. Since the revision of ISO 9001:2000, PQSL has sought to develop and source new areas of training relevant to the process of continual improvement in keeping with the new approach of the standard. The following programmes are offered:

  1. MEASURING AND MANAGING CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND LOYALTY (three days)
    You hear about them all the time …. Today’s hottest topics… Customer retention and building customer loyalty...But how do you successfully measure and manage them? How do you link measures of customer satisfaction, value and loyalty to other organizational and marketplace performance measures? You will discover the most current customer satisfaction measurement and management practices employed by some of the world’s leading companies, including many Malcolm Baldridge Award-winning organizations.  
  2. IMPLEMENTING AND DOCUMENTING AN ISO 9000 QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (two days)
    The workshop provides participants with the framework of the global application of ISO 9000, the new approach to Quality Management, the need to document procedures as well as the process of being assessed for compliance by a third party and of becoming registered. This workshop is essentially a practical series of sessions utilizing formal tutorials, practical workshop sessions and open forum discussion.
  3. PROCESS AUDITING FOR ISO 9001:2000 (one day)
    ISO 9001:1994 requires system audits and ISO 9001:2000 requires process audits. This course is designed for practicing auditors who require knowledge and training on auditing to the new ISO standard. Learn how to meet these new requirements while gaining valuable skills.
  4. UNDERSTANDING AND PREPARING FOR ISO 900 1 :2000 (one day)
    Get the latest details on ISO 9001:2000. Whether you’re currently ISO 9001/9002 registered or contemplating registration or compliance, the planned changes will affect you.
  5. ISO 9001 DOCUMENTATION WORKSHOP (two days)
    Learn to evaluate, prepare, and analyze documentation requirements, write instructions and system-level procedures, and implement the system.
  6. ISO 9000 REGISTERED AUDITOR/LEAD AUDITOR (five days)
    Under the ISO 9000 (ANSI.ASQ Q9000) Series, the ISO 9000 Lead Auditor training course and examination provide the necessary body of knowledge and skills to cover the requirements for registration, when combined with appropriate documentation of education, experience and auditor practice.
  7. ISO 9000 REGISTERED INTERNAL QUALITY AUDITING (three days)
    This course introduces participants to auditing as a powerful management tool in establishing the effectiveness of an organization in controlling the quality variable. Particular emphasis is given to ISO 9001:2000 requirements. The course focuses on the development of internal auditing as a technique, not for fault finding but for identifying opportunities for improvement.

TRAINING NEEDS ASSESSMENT: Making Training a More Efficient and Effective Investment

Writing Plain English (two days)

This course has been developed especially for today’s overworked business writers. By ‘business writers’ we mean anyone who has to write letters, memos, reports, booklets, leaflets or any other kind of document. Whatever their level in an organisation, participants will find the course challenging and stimulating. It targets administrative personnel, middle management, executive assistants, secretaries, technical officers, public relations staff, marketing staff and anyone who is required to write.

Effective Public Speaking Presentation Skills (four days)

This training enhances the ability to speak competently and effectively in public and to a group;

to make persuassive and convincing presentation of your ideas and to impart information in a clear and understandable manner. It enables you to do so in a way that enhances your personal authority and impact while allowing you to feel in control. It shows you how to manage your nerves and stage fright.

Building Organisational Trust (two days)
Strategies, business processes, internal customer relationships and leadership quality are the key areas of an organisation that must be addressed in order to achieve high quality customer service. At the core of every great organisation is team accountability and the building of trust and a sense of mutual interdependence.

This “building trust intervention” will achieve the following objectives:

  • To bring the group to a common understanding of trust and trust issues.
  • To share a practical model for trust building that can be owned by the organisation.
  • To begin the process of strengthening trust in the organisation.

Entertaining Etiquette (two days)
A two-day interactive seminar for those who host social events for key executives in the world of business, academia, diplomacy, politics, the arts, the media, the professions and other areas. Key topics to be covered include;

Retirement Planning Workshop (two days)
This programme teaches its participants how to plan for a “happy retirement” today. Retirement is a major phase in the lives of most persons, however many ignore or postpone retirement planning often until they are actually in retirement.

The workshop will break down the factors that contribute to a balanced lifestyle into five (5) major areas:

  • Physical- how activity, genetics etc affects “age”
  • Social- how the ability to interact cordially with persons at al social levels helps you become happier
  • Emotional- the acceptance and resistance of events in your life is essential in allowing you to cope with life
  • Spiritual- recognition of your “soul scope” to make you a better person
  • Financial- wealth is something different to each person-learn how to build personal wealth successfully.

By focusing on each of these areas, and integrating them participants become more aware of the importance of taking care of their total wellbeing. For working individuals this is especially crucial since physical and emotional health for example, is often sacrificed for financial success. Retirement planning must start during the working years!!

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

 Recent Developments in Occupational Health and Safety Management System standards including OHSAS 18001 and the significance of the ILO-OSH 2001 document has forced countries to develop legislation and regulations to guide organizations in its operations to protect employees.

  4. USING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS TO MANAGE CORPORATE GOVERNANCE RISKS (one day)
    Premier Quality Services Limited is pleased to introduce yet another training programme to add to its list of training courses available to you. Introducing Corporate Governance - the way organizations are directed and controlled –has attracted new interest in recent years. Economic failures, calls for greater social responsibility, more stringent requirements from stock exchanges, calls for greater transparency and for increased recognition of shareholder rights, have led to organizations such as the OECD, the Commonwealth Business Council and the IMF pressing for increased corporate governance.

Training for Internal Auditors for OHSAS 18001. (In-house or Public Course). (two days)
The objective of the course is to train delegates with auditing experience to be able to audit, advise and assess the Occupational Health and Safety Manage-ment System against the requirements of the OHSAS 18001 specification. The key objectives of the course are to develop core competence in;

Documentation – ability to identify and assess relevant documentary evidence
Interviewing – ability to prepare and undertake an interview at various levels
Observations – develop key observation and verification skills.

This is NOT an IRCA accredited course and is specific to the client.

Training of IRCA Certified Lead Auditor for OHSAS 18001. (In-house or Public Courses). (five days)
This is a BSi course of five days duration which has been accredited by the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA) for OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditors. The intention being to develop the delegate’s knowledge of both auditing skills and the specific requirements of OHSAS 18001 in order that they may sit the written examination on the final day of the course.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

The environment and its protection is becoming more prominent in the region and thus organizations are looking for tools to assist with the management of their impacts on the environment. PQSL offers the ISO 14001 Environmental Management system as one such tool for helping organizations mange and improve their environmental performance. Related courses are continuously being research and developed. Those currently available are:

  1. INTEGRATING ISO 14001 INTO A QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (two days)
    Companies with a successful quality management system (QMS) in place (such as ISO 9001 or 9002) can expand that system to accommodate the environmental management system ( EMS) requirements of ISO 14001. This course examines both QMS and EMS features and explains how to integrate these requirements into one cohesive system, gain an understanding of the synergy between an EMS and an ISO 9001/9002 QMS, learn to identify the common elements between ISO 14001 and the governing quality standard, and to use existing quality documentation to meet ISO 14001 requirements. Through hands-on, interactive workshops, learn how to integrate environmental and quality systems, procedures, and manuals.
  2. INTERPRETING AND IMPLEMENTING AN IS0 14001 (two days)
    This is a comprehensive overview of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) standard. Learn how the language and intent of the stated requirements affects you. This programme provides a foundation upon which additional levels of activity, from initial system design, through implementation and maintenance, to review and continual improvement, can be built.
  3. ISO 14001 /LEAD AUDITOR TRAINING for ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
    ANSI/RAB NAP-Accredited (five days)
    The goal of this ANSI-RAB NAP accredited course provides you with the understanding necessary to successfully audit environmental management systems ( EMS) for conformance with the requirements of the ISO 14000. Hands-on “real world” case studies and workshops are included.
  4. INTERNAL AUDITING for ISO 14001 ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (three days)
    Learn to develop and implement an internal audit system for an environmental management system ( EMS) that meets the requirements of ISO 14001. Participants attending will be exposed to interactive workshops that focus on preparing checklists, evaluating corrective action, and a sample case study audit.
  5. IDENTIFYING ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS AND IMPACTS (one day)
    Learn techniques for identifying the environmental aspects of your process and determining their impacts in a manner that conforms with ISO 14001 requirements. The step-by-step approach progresses from a general understanding of aspects and impacts to specific methods of identification and evaluation and results.

LABORATORY MANAGEMENT

There is a move regionally to standardize and thus improve the operations of labs which will result in the assurance of consistent and accurate results. PQSL offers training courses in a number of areas that will provide the necessary skills to assist an organization with achieving standardized operations. Some of these programmes are listed below:

  1. QUALITY SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION FOR LABORATORIES (two days)
    This workshop will help participants to acquire the know-how for developing effective documentation for improving and maintaining a quality system in accordance with ISO 17025. The workshop will be conducted by a well-experienced and reputable facilitator.
  2. LABORATORY DOCUMENTATION (two days)
    This two-day course provides understanding of the documentation that requires to be controlled under a laboratory quality management system, ideas about how to control it, and hands-on practice in documenting quality system elements. The requirements of ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 for quality system documentation are covered.
  3. INTERNAL AUDITING OF LABORATORIES (two days)
    This two-day course covers the methodology and recommended best practice in the conduct of internal quality audits within laboratories. The course is highly participative with delegates making individual and small group auditor decisions on a laboratory audit case study.
  4. ACCURACY & UNCERTAINTY OF MEASUREMENT IN TESTING LABORATORIES (two days)
    This two-day course covers the importance and methodology of estimating the uncertainty in test results and the applicable requirements of ISO17025 and ISO 9001. The recommendations contained in the ISO Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement, as they apply to testing laboratories, are explained. The course involves practical estimations of uncertainty.
  5. CALIBRATION AND MEASUREMENT (one day)
    Premier Quality Services Limited offers a programme in Calibration and Measurement. This is presented in conjunction with any of the calibration programmes. It is however, the aspect of our training that we consider to be the most important as the everyday application of the principles of measurement science is somewhat limited in our technical environment.

FOOD SAFETY FOR HOTELS, RESTAURANTS AND ALL FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS

Premier Quality Services Limited have embatked on this new area of training in Food Safety. Food poisoning and food borne diseases are global problems with millions of people suffering from these infections every year. Tourist destinations who suffer from an outbreak of food borne illnesses can quickly lose their reputation and there will be a substantial drop in the number of visitors. The most recent example in the Caribbean is the Dominican Republic which suffered adverse publicity worldwide from outbreaks of food poisoning which occurred in several hotels.

HACCP for HEALTH INSPECTORS (three days)
Introducing HACCP Systems to Health Inspectors and other personnel will help them to develop confidence and competence in the operations of a HACCP System.
OBJECTIVES:

  • To create an understanding of the roles of the Regulatory Agencies
  • To prepare for various types of inspections
  • To develop inspection forms
  • To record and make recommendations based on inspection findings

HACCP for PRODUCTION AND LINE STAFF (four days)
Introducing HACCP to Production and Line Staff will encourage them to recognize the significant partnership they share with management in ensuring customer satisfaction, thereby guaranteeing the continual success of their operation. It will also enable the participants to prepare a HACCP Plan to become aware of, and determine, which procedures are required.
Objectives :

  • To train and empower line staff in the development of a HACCP system for all items being produced in their organization.
  • To ensure that all food items are of the highest standard both in safety and quality.
  • The benefits and cost of HACCP

HACCP for PURCHASING STAFF (two days)
The objective of this 2 day programme is to sensitize Purveyors of the important role they play in ensuring that all of food handled is not only safe but of the highest quality. Interactive sessions will allow the participants to prepare a HACCP Plan and become aware of the benefits and cost of HACCP, and determine which procedures are required.

HACCP ORIENTATION for EXECUTIVE MANAGERS (two days)
This 2 day programme is meant to introduce the HACCP principles to Executive Managers of organizations interested in implementing/developing a food safety system within a food environment. It contains interactive sessions which enable the participants to prepare a HACCP Plan to become aware of the benefits and cost of HACCP, and determine which procedures are required.

PROJECT DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT
Delivering project on-time, on-quality and on-budget is the desire of every project manager. However few have the skills that will enable them to do so. Consequently, stories abound about projects that ended up being too costly, too long or completely below standard. Successful participants in this course will be able to, given an assignment brief, design and manage the project, ensuring that it is delivered at the highest standard, on-time and on-budget.

ENHANCING RESEARCH SKILLS
This workshop focuses on the skills researchers need to plan and implement Sample Surveys. Participants in the training program will learn how to design appropriate survey instruments and to perform the interrelated activities that are involved in conducting a sample survey.

MANAGING CONFLICT
Today managers have come to recognize that if properly managed, conflict can be an invaluable source for creativity and organizational innovation.
Techniques acquired in this course include Alternative Dispute Resolution and Collaborative Conflict Management.

EFFECTIVE PRESENTATION SKILLS
Many presenters today want to improve on their presentation skills. This course is designed to equip presenters with these skills. Having completed this course on presentation skills, you will be able to make presentations that will be effective and efficient in persuading, instructing, informing or explaining.

PUBLIC POLICY ANALYSIS
The work of implementing public policy is made complex by competition and tension between ideas in different academic and political perspectives and the “real world” perspectives of those who actually implement public policy. Public Policy Analysis training that provides Public Sector Officials with the knowledge and skills that they need to effectively implement public policy is critical to improving performance in the public sector.
