Standards Information Centre
Set up in 1975 the Standards Information Centre of the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards now has a collection of more than 200,000 copies of standards stored on paper and CD-ROM. The main objective of the Information Centre has been to facilitate easy access to standards information, thus improving the capabilities of local manufacturers, industrialists and others to compete internationally. This centre has since become the major agency in the country for identifying, collecting and disseminating information on standards, technical regulations, and conformity with internationally accepted levels of quality.
The Standards Information Centre provides a number of services to its clients in order for them to have easier access to information on standards and related activities.
National Standards Database:
The Centre maintains a database of all Trinidad and Tobago Standards voluntary and compulsory. The database contains a record of each standard giving title, scope, status and price.

WTO/TBT Enquiry Point:
Supplies WTO and foreign countries with information on compulsory local standards, conformity assessments and technical regulations. Informs local industry and trade of similar developments in other countries. Futher information on the development of this service will be available online in the near future.

Procurement of Publications:
Assistance to clients (individuals/corporations) in the procurement of local, regional, national and international standards and other technical publications.
Technical Services: Assistance to individuals and organizations with their research needs in standardization.

Membership Programme:
Encourages corporate bodies, government departments/ministries to become members to enjoy special access to global information resources.
Types of Membership:
Full Membership allows borrowing rights to the standards collection of up to twenty five standards in one year and the technical book collection.
Standards Updating Service (Member country can send us a listing of standards used and we will automatically update or verfiy their validity and currency).
Reference enquires. The annual membership subscription is TT$2,500 plus 15% Vat. The two year fee is TT$4,000 plus 15% Vat. A deposit of TT$300 covers potential loss or damage to material from the Centre. It is refundable at termination of membership. Additionally, a 20% discount is available to any company participating in TTBS Certification Programmes. Discounts are also applied to some documents purchased by members through the Centre.
Partial Membership allows standards updating service and reference enquires. Member companies can send a list of standards they use and we will validate, whether current, revised ammended or withdrawn. This service attracts an annual fee of $1,000 plus 15% Vat.

Standards Updating:
Provides current information on relevant technical documents. A list of standards can be forwarded to the Centre and a report of the status of these documents will be generated for the client. This service will cost TT$5,00 per document.
